RIDGE WRITERS – THE EAST SIERRA BRANCH

A group of Ridgecrest writers got together as the Lunch Bunch in the early 1990s. One of them, Casey Wilson, heard about the California Writers Club. He joined the San Fernando Branch. When he discovered the High Desert Branch in Victorville, 80 miles closer to home, he and eight other Lunch Bunchers became members there.

By 1996, with enough published and aspiring writers in Ridgecrest, they started Ridge Writers, the East Sierra Branch of the CWC. Ridge Writers grew and took on greater responsibility in the community, writing a weekly book review that appears in the News Review and establishing the annual Allison Aubin scholarship for local “Writers Ink” Burroughs High School students interested in writing careers.

The East Sierra Branch holds most of its meetings on the first Thursday evening of each month at Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church at 6:30pm. The public is welcome and admission is free.
